Local film buff residents can again kick back and relax in the amazing Athena Cinema and enjoy another Athens International Film + Video Festival.
Located in the heart of Athens, Ohio, on Court Street, on the Ohio University Campus, The Athena Cinema is one of the oldest movie theaters’ in the country, opening its doors in 1915.
The cinema has been home to the Athens International Film + Video Festival since 1974.
For four decades, Athens International has embraced experimental, narrative, short-form, feature length, and documentary films from every corner of the globe, offering filmmakers a stellar platform for public exposure and an environment that values artistry above marquee names and industry relationships.
